October, November, and December ~ One Second a Day
One second carries the weight of mountains.
That's what these seconds have taught me.
Her bravery and love astounds me every single day. She must face so many seconds of impossibles in one day, fighting for every second of who she used to be - who she still is. Too often I see people making the choice to alienate her, instead of embracing a single second of connection. Even when there is a note on the table that says, "Build community - share the table." Even though they are reading out loud. Even when all she said was, "I'm Linda Sullivan again. Who are you?" Even though it was just a smiling hello, she was barked at to leave because this individual didn't, "have time for this."
I don't think she had time for this disease either, but here she is living it, still as an incredible woman.
Happy International Women's Day to this beautiful woman, to all of the inspiring women in my life, and to all mamas and daughters everywhere. May we find at least one second of bravery, joy, and hope, every single day, even when it seems unimaginable. May we hold each other up and live proudly in each second, whatever that second may be.
