It's a Marshmallow Dinner
Tonight, I missed the 5:04 dinner bell completely. Usually I am very clock conscious, counting down the minutes until 5:04, rounding off each step of dinner prep like another mile in the race. Tonight, when I realized it was almost five o'clock and I hadn't started dinner, I ran into the kitchen hoping to turn the clock back, but I found that she was miles ahead of me. Her dinner was plated and ready, as she stood in front of the clock waiting for 5:04.
Marshmallows, chocolate, and gummies, graced her plate.
And you know, nothing sounded more delicious for dinner. So there we were at 5:04 eating marshmallows, chocolate, and gummies, and it felt like a precious little secret that we were keeping together (just don't tell my midwife).
Maybe somehow she knew that marshamallows, chocolate, and gummies were precisely what I needed to turn today around. So baby Chu, someday, when you really need it, you and I will have chocolate, marshmallows, and gummies for dinner, and it will be our little secret.
